Bruce Gruening - Wisconsin Waterfront Builders Fishing Team

Bruce's fishing photos

Wisconsin Waterfront Builders (www.WisWB.com) is proud to sponsor Bruce Gruening of Bruce's Fishing Adventures in the Rhinelander/Lake Tomahawk Area of North Central Wisconsin.  Besides his UPS day job, wife of 24 years and daughter, Bruce is a self proclaimed fishing nut.  This is a great thing for his fishing charter clients since his enthusiasm and labor of love spills over on each and every fishing charter he hosts.  Bruce has been a Northwoods fishing guide since 1982, and tournament fisherman since 1990.  In those years Bruce has seen and done it all, and still loves doing it.  As the saying goes: "A bad day fishing is better than a good day working".

Bruce with a Lake Tomahawk musky

Bruce has built an admired reputation of being a World Class Walleye fisherman, but more recently, and after winning and placing in most of the local walleye tournaments (one with over 700 entries) in recent years, Bruce has taken on the elusive and ultimate fresh water predator, the Musky.  Musky fishing is so onto its own that an entirely new term has been created for it, as showed by the leading magazine devoted to the topic, "Musky Hunter".  Catching a musky, especially a large one, is a unique and memorable experience, and for some a once in a lifetime.  Male muskies will grow to around 42 inches, but females can grow to over 60" and weight well over 30 pounds (the largest in Bruce's boat in 2005 was 50 ˝ inches, catch and release).  The fish looks like a heavy, strong, fresh water barracuda with green tiger stripes or similar marks.  Their behavior is unique as they are believed to be territorial loners (as apposed to other fish who school) and often follow crank baits right up to the boat without striking them, often looking at you, then disappearing.   The larger ones are wise and if hooked practice evasive maneuvers such as log rolling, or jumping to create slack so they can "spit the hook".  In musky fishing, there is an old adage is that every 1,000 casts yields just one follow-up.  Your best bet to better those odds is a fishing charter with Bruce Gruening.  Just last year he was highest wildcard qualifier in the WMT musky series.

As we begin the 2006 fishing season, Bruce says:

"We [Bruce and his fishing partner] are fishing 10 qualifying tournaments together this year and are very excited about fishing as the Wisconsin Waterfront Builders Fishing Team sponsored by our good friend Jim Bourne. We have great expectations of having a special kind of year.  I will still consider myself a walleye guide and treat every one of my guide outings as a tournament day and will try to teach you and guide you to having the experience of a lifetime."

So whether you are looking for some great walleye fishing , certainly the preferred and most popular eating fish of Northern Wisconsin, or whether you wish to go big game fresh water fishing, Bruce Gruening is your answer to fishing enjoyment and success.  Should you then fall in love with Wisconsin's Northwoods and wish to build your dream home there, Wisconsin Waterfront Builders is your answer to build the perfect dream home.
